But right now, I'll update you guys on the trip I took after leaving Dublin for the last time. Mel and I visited Krakow in Poland, Berlin in Germany and Amsterdam in the Netherlands, which was my final destination before flying home!! The entire trip was about 10 days long which was perfect for me since I was actually missing my family and friends and Australia in general so so much.
Poland
We left Dublin for Krakow on the 29th May and spent three days there. Krakow was beautiful in every way possible. The architecture was amazing, the people are amazing and the vibes are amazing. But the thing that stood out most to me was the rich and actually really devastating history behind it, especially with it being so close to the biggest concentration camp. Mel and I had no hesitation in heading out to Auschwitz-Birkenau to see the concentration camp and learn more about that tragic period in our history. On a lighter note, I tasted the best falafel kebab I have ever tasted in my life and still think about to this day HAHA. Poland also happens to be very veggo friendly and I had so much vegan food omgosh so good. AND there was gelato e v e r y w h e r e.
Germany
We took a night bus from Poland to Berlin which was one of the most tiring trips ever. Berlin was super freaking cool though!! It was actually one of the few cities I felt very welcome in as an Asian since Asian culture isn't as foreign to them thanks to the many immigrants there. We found the cutest little Vietnamese cafe right around the corner from our hostel and quickly fell into the routine of going there for breakfast/brunch every day. Berlin is actually the sickest place and super trendy and hipster and I actually fell in love with it. Berlin is also well known for its street art which can be found on pretty much every building tbh.
Netherlands (again)
We only spent about three days in Berlin (which was waaaaay too short imo) since we bought tickets to go to the Flying Dutch (a music festival) in Amsterdam, where we met up with our friend Jess. After a sleepless nine hours on our overnight bus (and a sleepless night the night before that), we finally arrived at Amsterdam... but instead of catching up on some rest, we had to head out straight away to the festival. One of the most memorable moments in Amsterdam was on our second day there. That morning, while exploring the city centre, someone accidentally bumped into us. Turns out it was just two random guys and it was no big deal. Later on that day though, after visiting the Van Gogh museum, the three of us decided to chill out in Museumplein which is a large grassy area close to the famous I Amsterdam sign. Funnily enough, we somehow bumped into those same guys again. They ended up sitting down and chatting to us and we found out that one of the guys was a videographer and makes YouTube videos about 'the faces of Amsterdam' and actually showed us one of his videos which was sick. He makes videos for the other guy who is YouTube/Facebook/Instagram. It was such a random coincidence but ended up being such a good memory.
The videographer was playing around with Jess' camera and was taking candids of everyone. He quickly picked up that I hated having my photo taken and kept asking me questions about it and tried to prove to me that my photos weren't that bad. He managed to sneak a pic before I could put my hand over the lens and managed to take this photo, which I surprisingly don't hate. I actually treasure it so much and not because the photo is amazing or anything but because I'll never forget that conversation nor the general atmosphere that day.
